3 Key Reasons Why Video Marketers Should Pay Attention to CES 2016

There are three key reasons why video marketers should make some time to “keep an eye” on CES 2016, which starts on Wednesday, Jan. 6, and runs through Saturday, Jan. 9. They are: (1) to keep up-to-date with industry trends, (2) to see new products and services, and (3) to maintain and build relationships.
More than 170,000 attendees from across the globe will descend on the event, which takes place over 2.2 million net square feet of exhibit space. But how can those video marketers who can’t attend keep up-to-date on industry trends, see new products and services, or maintain and build relationships without actually going to CES 2016?
CES 2016: Keep In Touch Online
To keep up-to-date with industry trends, you won’t want to miss what thought-leaders and visionaries from the tech industry have to say about the future of their company and consumer technology when they take the keynote stage at CES 2016.
For example, I’m looking forward to watching the keynotes by Reed Hastings, the CEO of Netflix, on Wednesday, Jan. 6, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., Dr. WP Hong, the President of Samsung SDS, on Thursday, Jan. 7, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., and Robert Kyncl, the Chief Business Officer at YouTube, on Thursday, Jan. 7, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Now, eight of last year’s keynote presentations can be found at CES-TV and on the CES channel on YouTube. So, I have no doubt that I’ll be able to watch this year’s keynotes within 24 hours in one of these two places. I’ll also be able to keep up-to-date with industry trends by watching other videos on the CES YouTube channel, like:
Now, how can video marketers “see” many of the new products and services that will be launched at CES 2016? Well, I plan to follow several YouTube channels, including CNET, IDG.tv, Tech Talk America, and TechnoBuffalo:
Finally, it’s hard to maintain and build relationships without actually attending CES 2016. However, two YouTube vloggers turned entrepreneurial powerhouses, Justine Ezarik, aka iJustine, and Joey Graceffa, will be serving as Ambassadors for the Entertainment Matters Program at CES. Presented by Variety, Entertainment Matters is the CES program designed to help the Hollywood community navigate the most influential technology show in the world.
As most video marketers already know, Ezarik (@ijustine) is a one of the top female personalities on YouTube, amassing more than 3.6 million subscribers across her three channels, and garnering more than 600 million views on her videos. In 2014, she was on Time’s Most 100 list and in 2012 she was ranked #6 most influential personality by The Daily Beast’s Digital Power Index. Earlier this year, she released her first book, “iJustine: An Analog Memoir,” which has become a New York Times bestseller.
And Ezarik’s video, “iJustine Discovers CES 2016 Product Leak,” which was published on the Mashable Studios channel, already has more than 85,000 views even though the product doesn’t appear to have an obvious tie-in with the show.
And Graceffa (@JoeyGraceffa ) is one of the fastest growing personalities with one of the most engaged audiences on YouTube amassing more than 6.5 million subscribers across his two channels, and garnering more than 770 million views on his videos. A popular brand ambassador, Graceffa has worked with top brands such as Top Shop, eBay, Axe, Braun, Lego, Intel and H&R Block. Joey recently released his tell all book, “In Real Life,” which instantly became a New York Times and USA Today bestseller. He’s also currently developing the second season of his hit web series, “Storytellers,” in partnership with Legendary and StyleHaul.
So, even if iJustine and Joey aren’t your friends or colleagues yet, subscribe to their YouTube channels or follow them on Twitter and then connect with them during CES 2016. I realize that this is NOT the same as being there – but the best way to maintain and build relationships at some industry events is to live vicariously through people you know.
