Over 4 Million Youtube Views in 2 Days…There Is A Very Good Reason

A new advert for a large U.K. based supermarket, Sainsbury’s, depicts a series of truces that occurred on the front lines during World War I.

The cinematic 4-minute ad has soldiers from both sides of the trenches joining together to greet and spend time with one another.  The Germans and British compete in a soccer match before two soldiers walk back to their sides and pull out gifts each had exchanged.

“This year’s Christmas ad from Sainsbury’s – Christmas is for sharing. Made in partnership with The Royal British Legion, it commemorates the extraordinary events of Christmas Day, 1914, when the guns fell silent and two armies met in no-man’s land, sharing gifts – and even playing football together.”

According to the supermarket, “The chocolate bar featured in the ad is on sale now at Sainsbury’s. All profits (50p per bar) will go to The Royal British Legion and will benefit our armed forces and their families, past and present.”

The story was told in the beautifully done 2005 war drama, “Joyeux Noel” starring Diane Kruger.
