Project: Fable: The Journey – Magic Concept

We were approached by SR Partners to collaborate in a conceptual project for Lionhead Studios. Our task was to re-think traditional computer game magic systems and devise an exciting and original concept for use in the latest release of the Fable franchise via the Kinect device. This piece was created alongside the uber-talented Esteban Diacono.
The premise behind this concept was to dual wield both organic and mechanic magical elements that could be cast individually or combined to create a more powerful hybrid. Our mechanical sounds are made up of processed clockwork, mechanisms and all manner of metallic bits. Our organic sounds consist of a more fluid set of sounds from water, sponges and mashed up vegetables.
Whilst this development work was not integrated into the game in full, the influence can definitely be felt in the final release.
