YouTube is the place that the world goes to for videos. Quite simply, if you are creating video content then you need to setup your own YouTube Channel.

Want to add your own video to your WordPress site?
The simplest way to host and add your own videos to your WordPress website is to upload the video on a third-party server like YouTube.
Step 1: Create a Google Account
In order to create a YouTube channel, you need to have a Google account (Google owns YouTube). If you use Gmail or any other Google products like Drive or Google+, you already have a Google account. If not, you’ll need to create one.
This screen recording will walk you through the basics!
Step 2: Setup Your YouTube Channel
Once you’ve created your YouTube channel, you should fill out the “About” section and add channel art. Completing and customizing your channel will add credibility to your account.
Step 3: Now you’re ready to upload your first video!
If you already have a video, you can practice before the workshop. Don’t worry if you don’t though, we’ll be uploading to your channel in the workshop.
Video Privacy Settings
When you upload your first video you will want to check the privacy settings. You can set defaults so future uploads will use the same settings, you will be able to override these settings on individual videos.
Public: By default a video uploaded to Youtube will be set to “Public”, which means that anybody can view it.
Unlisted: An unlisted video can be viewed by anyone who has the link to the video. Unlisted videos won’t appear to others who visit the Videos tab of your channel page and shouldn’t show up in YouTube’s search results unless someone adds your unlisted video to a public playlist.
Private: A private video can only be seen by you and the users you select. The video won’t appear on your channel or in search results until you make it public. If you want to share a private video with another user you need to first link your channel with Google+.
Now you’re ready to add your video to your WordPress website. Follow along with our How to add a YouTube video to WordPress Posts/Pages tutorial.
