YouTube has launched YouTube for Artists, a website that offers tools for musicians hoping to promote themselves and their work on the video platform.
The site includes tips on “getting discovered,” engaging with audiences on social media, monetizing content, and pretty much all the other advice YouTube would give to video creators in general…but tailored specifically to the kind who make songs happen.
You can watch this video if you don’t feel like learning much about the new initiative but do want to see a bunch of musicians who used YouTube to promote their work:
Some of the more helpful features showcased on YouTube for Artists include interactive “cards,” which allow fans to buy a creators’ merch directly through their videos, and Fan Funding on the video platform.YouTube also said that it’s working on a “new data tool” that will help artists locate their audiences, helping them figure out the best stops on upcoming tours and where to focus on promoting their newest singles.
Besides YouTube Music Key, the subscription music video service that’s alienated some artists and made money for others, the video platform’s focusing on its musicians with the upcoming YouTube Music Awards, which will take place on the YouTube Music Awards channel on March 23 starting at 10am PT.
